“Children, please let my son be the last”

How many shootings/stabbings deaths this week? How many children shot at? How many parents lost a child this week?

The above quote “Children, please let my son be the last” has come from the mother of 17-year-old Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton, who was Shot and killed last Sunday. His mother, Pretana Morgan has since pleaded that this violence stops. But it hasn’t. There have been more deaths and shootings since her son was taken.

So, lets get real about things shall we. This woman has lost her child. She is begging other children to not take any more lives. Yet, as far as I can see Theresa May is doing….nothing.

We have a woman sobbing, hurting, going through a pain that no mother ever should, yet she is out there telling the young people of today to not take any more lives.

That’s a lot more than I see most people in government doing. If I am wrong, then please correct me.

Just looking at Pretana’s face, trying to imagine just a tiny bit how empty she is feeling right now, motivates me to do …something…anything.

How can people just do nothing when we have a mother in so much pain. How can we as society even look each other in the eye knowing that people are doing nothing. My own son will say that this blog is attacking. He will tell me that people don’t like being attacked and that people will get defensive if I talk this way. GOOD

Rhyheim’s mother also made another statement. One that is so powerful that it gave me goose bumps the first time I read it. And it motivated me to look deep into myself and ask what else I need to be doing as a front-line worker to try and stop any more deaths.

Her statement is simply “It’s not about race, it’s not about nation, it’s not about culture. Nothing. It’s just human race”

It’s just human race…….
