Understanding Street Gangs

Understanding Street Gangs is a short course helping teachers and adults working with children to understand gang culture and exploitation, particularly child sexual exploitation (CSE).

Gangs thrive on secrecy, and Understanding Street Gangs aims to break some of the barriers so that adults can protect and support children and young people.  This resource provides information about the language used, the structure of gangs, the activities they partake in and warning signs that indicate a young person may be at risk.

Understanding Street Gangs has advice about safeguarding procedures and resources to help identify young people at risk. It also provides links to useful websites and reading material.
